ENERGY TRANSFORMATION THROUGH CARBON MANAGEMENT

IMG_3565-(1).jpg

Energy Transformation requires more than technological innovation. It demands a shared commitment from all sectors to enact real change.

SCS Technologies is committed to reducing carbon by providing solutions for recovering fugitive gasses, assisting with CO2 capture and storage, and through urban reforestation.

A single tree, such as a live oak, can capture and store more than 5 tons of CO2 in its lifetime. Trees also reduce surface heat and increase the quality of life for people living in communities they are a part of.

We pledge to plant one million trees by 2030, in partnership with One Tree Planted and 1T.org.

As part of our reforestation initiative, we are planting 100,000 trees in economically challenged urban neighborhoods, communities which are often hardest hit by the effects of climate change. Trees will be distributed and planted across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana as part of this 100,000 tree pledge.

Planting 1,000,000 trees will help offset the CO2e our customers and vendors emit as part of our supply chain.

SCS is actively working towards offsetting company emissions, with a goal of becoming Net Zero in 2050. To that end, we are participating in SME Net Zero by 2050.

Galena Park
Tree Distribution

SCS is distributing 1,125 trees on March 23 in Galena Park, Texas. This community is located east of Houston, nestled between Buffalo Bayou and I-10, just north of the Houston Ship Channel.

Surrounded by freight rail and a main route for long haul trucks going from the Port of Houston into Houston, Galena Park has been identified as a city with an unacceptable health risk due to diesel pollution and other environmental factors. 1/3 of children in Galena Park live below the poverty line.

Following a successful tree distribution in December, 2023, SCS will sponsor over 1100 shade, fruit, and flowering trees for residents to plant around their homes to provide shade as well as help clean the air.

Jane Stricker, Executive Director of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI), will serve as the Executive Chairperson of our first annual Tree Distribution this spring.

SCS Technologies thanks our supporters and partners for joining us in supporting this tree initiative and volunteering their time to provide trees to the Galena Park community, in partnership with Trees for Houston and 1T.org.
